Kiwi
Kiwi is a tiny, but fiesty female black-capped capuchin monkey rescued by the Monkey Sanctuary in 2010. She was born in 1996 and was rescued along with her mother Giz and friend Grips in the chilly February of 2010.

When they first arrived, all three capuchins had poor coat conditions and were very skinny; they have all been on regular doses of oils for their coats and have been eating away happily since their arrival; each of them has put on healthy weight and are looking in much better condition than on arrival.
Kiwi is fairly unusual in our rescue centre as she has been living with her natural mother for her whole life. Whilst this is perfectly normal in the wild, most 'pet' monkeys are taken from their mothers at very young ages and suffer from the loss of their mother both physically and psychologically.
Upon moving into the rescue centre, this fiesty little female quickly realised that there were many opppurtunities to be had in her new life! She has been working hard to catch the attention of the males in the rescue centre and appears to have a soft spot from Frosty, the first capuchin we ever rescued!
Kiwi has a quick temper and she is bold and adventurous; each new enclosure we introduce her to is well explored and used by this clever capuchin! Kiwi is now living in a sucessful social group with her mum Giz, her old friend Grips and new friends Kodak, Joey and Josh. This little social group is doing very well and having a great time getting to know each other!
