The Monkey Sanctuary, Cornwall

The Monkey Sanctuary was founded as a primate rescue centre in 1964 by Len Williams, it is situated in beautiful woodlands overlooking Looe Bay in south east Cornwall, and over the years it has been running, it has opened its doors to hundreds of thousands of visitors eager to see an intimate insight into a working Sanctuary. The Monkey Sanctuary is managed by the charity Wild Futures (see below) and works to rescue and rehabilitate primate victims of the pet trade and entertainment industries. Taking in rescued primates, the Monkey Sanctuary works to integrate those primates into suitable social groupings so that they can enjoy a stimulating and safe social life.
The Monkey Sanctuary operates a non-breeding policy for all the rescues in its care in the understanding that captivity is not an ideal state for primates. The Monkey Sanctuary is an educational site where visitors can learn about the perils that face primates in the wild and in captivity, but also learn about what fascinating primate relatives humans have!
Until 2008 all residents of the Monkey Sanctuary had been from the 'New World' (the Americas) but now, due to demand, the Monkey Sanctuary has taken in old world monkeys (from Africa/Asisa), building new enclosures and taking on more staff to cope with the needs of these monkeys.
The Monkey Sanctuary draws on over 40 years of experience in caring for rescued primates and prides itself on the quality of this care and the consideration of the monkeys as individuals.
Wild Futures relies on the generosity of its supporters from all walks of life; with the help of people like you, we can give our rescued monkeys the best life possible and, work to make sure that primates and their habitats are protected, worldwide.
The Monkey Sanctuary and Wild Futures' online shops are managed by Wild Futures Trading Ltd, a limited company set up and owned by Wild Futures for the express purpose of aiding the charity and its flagship project through trading in ethically produced merchandise and goods. Wild Futures Trading Ltd was formed in 2011 and donates all its profits to the charity Wild Futures and to the Monkey Sanctuary. Everything and anything you buy from our shop will help the work of Wild Futures and the Monkey Sanctuary.
